Did you know that Sukhee Kang’s Great Park fiasco had a “poet laureate?” Neither did I. And then I found this.
A poet laureate. When I think of that term, the names Alfred Tennyson, William Wordsworth and Robert Frost spring to mind: the poetic voices of great nations – not grossly mismanaged public works projects.
Some idiots thought that their grandiose scheme to build a park in suburban Orange County deserved its own poet, and that the poet should have the title “laureate.” I’m pretty sure it wasn’t supposed to be a joke.
I’m not going to comment on the quality of the poet’s output, which you can read for yourself – that’s not the point. The point is to ask the question: who in God’s name decided that a failing and failed public works disaster needed a poet laureate in the first place, particularly since the public was already paying a massive no-bid, fixed fee contract to Larry Agran and Sukhee Kang’s pals, PR spinners Forde Mollrich, to spread happy talk about their “great” park.
Every time you look at the “Great Park” something funny and embarrassing pops up. So rest assured, Sukhee Watchers, we’ll keep looking.

I don’t understand the mockery. Every public works project needs a poet laureate, even if it’s a failure.

Back in April, Carpetbagger Sukhee Kang decided to challenge Tim Shaw who withdrew from the SD 29 race due to troubles of fundraising and weaknesses and the GOP recruited Ling Ling Chang back in May 30th to maintain the odds of retaining the seat because of a strong carpetbagger. How can the DEMS expect a damaged carpetbagger to be that formidable? Kang’s candidacy has its own baggage. Namely, he only recently packed his bags and moved into the district. He’s also weighed down by the ongoing audit of the Orange County Great Park. Larry Agran, Beth Krom, and Sukhee Kang diverted more than $174,000 a month in Great Park funds to three political operatives (George Urch, Chris Townsend, and Arnold Forde) allegedly performing public relations for a Great Park which has not been built.
