Sukhee loved Paris in the Springtime…
Well, not Belgium, because the taxpayer-funded junketeers went to Spain, via the City of Lights. The return trip included a bite of the Big Apple.
A few weeks ago, one of our commenters remembered an example of the typical profligacy of a tone-deaf politician. We looked into it and relate what we found, herewith.
Back in 2005, when Irvine’s so-called “Great Park” seemed like a plausibility and the public had not yet cottoned on to the enormity of the scam, the Larry Agran-picked Great Park Board was selecting a designer. Naturally, our would-be State Senator Sukhee Kang was on board.
Of course no boondoggle is complete without an inordinately expensive junket, and the GP was no exception. The world was their playground and money was falling like manna from the heavens. The Board decided to send itself to Europe to view the work of some of their design finalists, because, you know, pictures and maps and diagrams are just so inadequate.
The LA Times reported the fun-filled junket, here; the Register, here, – a boondoggle within a boondoggle.
We note the observation that the junketeers also constituted a quorum of Irvine’s City Council, too – a dodging of California’s open meeting laws – a shady fact that seems to have eluded the international travelers.
Wasteful and opaque. That’s the Irvine legacy of Sukhee Kang.

I remember that little trip cost over well over $100,000. Well who wouldn’t want a fully paid European holiday at the taxpayer’s expense?

Hard to say who is the bigger tool; Suhkee, the OC Democratic Party, or Kevin De Leon for orchestrating this fiasco.
Ok., now we are getting to the part where De Leon sends out a mass email begging for money to help fund Suhkee’s charade of a campaign. I can feel myself reaching for the delete button.

Well, the Dems in Sacramento fell for Sukhee’s pitch, so they are indeed tools. It’s a long, long way ’til the Primary, IDAS.
They are going to need an oil tanker full of money cover up this stinking pile.

The Sacramento crowd are made up of idiots and assholes – just like Dick Ackerman and Dick Ackerwoman. They don’t get get it but we do: the public is not here to be fleeced and used for the likes of them.

I don’t get your anger. Who wouldn’t take a free European vacation and stay at five-star hotels if he could give them to himself?
Anyway, they needed to go on that vital trip to make sure the Great Park turned out great. And everybody’s happy now, right?

He may not know that much about your district but he is a real hard worker and fundraiser and will knock on doors all over the place. His campaign will have so much money and so many great endorsements and that is ALL that matters in politics. Get used to it – SENATOR SUKHEE!
