What do you mean there’s a place called Fullerton?
Some commenters here have wondered how a nobody like Sukhee Kang, well, worse than a nobody – an incompetent nobody with a disastrous record as a politician in a whole other part of the County – could get a bunch of endorsements from his fellow Democrats to run for office in north OC.
Here’s how it works: Sukhee gets in bed early with a politically ambitious Democant big shot, like say, State Senator Kevin de Leon, who is already running for his Next Big Job. Most likely Sukhee has pay some sort of monetary tribute to de Leon to buy his support, because you always look for the cash nexus in politics.
And now The Word comes down from On High in Sacramento that Sukhee is The Man. And not for a single, solitary reason anybody can be proud about. Small fry like Quirk and Correa, and even smallest fry like Galloway and Brandman get on board because they can see that bucking de Leon & Co. is going to be dangerous, maybe fatal to their once and future plans.
Anyway, they don’t care at all about the ethics of carpetbagging because they have done, or may likely do it themselves someday, and really, what’s the harm so long as their own ambitions are gratified?
Political insiders have no qualms about carpetbagging, or even the intelligence and competence of candidates. These things don’t matter to the class of political chatterers; Hell, they don’t even hold it against the other party’s candidates when they do it. What matters is the Main Chance and the ability to maybe catch the ride before a train leaves the station.
In 2009 just about every Republican office holder and insider backed the ridiculous Assembly scampaign of Linda Ackerman, whose suit was stuffed with lobbyist bucks and very little else. I can’t remember any of them that didn’t endorse the wretched carpetbagtress.
In 2010 the Democrat’s Lorraine Galloway pretended to move into a County Supervisor district. She not only faked an address, she faked THREE. Any round condemnation from the party? Of course not. Why? For awhile she was seen as a plausible candidate, instead of a featherhead with the intelligence of one of the stuffed animals she keeps on her bed.
And now in 2016 we have Sukhee Kang, the former Irvine mayor whose political appetites could no longer be satisfied there due to the inescapable facts of the Great Park disaster. So instead he and the Democratic Party apparatus cynically decide to foist this miscreant on us as a way to mine Korean votes in a district that is currently held by a Republican.
Who cares? Not Lou Correa. Not Sharon Quicksilver. They sold out quite some time ago. But we care and are eager to spread the gospel.

The funniest thing is that the political establishment – both parties – accept this as okay behavior so long as the money seems to be swirling about.
In 2010 the grinning assclown Sidhu actually had people endorsing him. Of course they expected to get something out of it right away. They thought old Hairbag’s dough was up for grabs – it wasn’t.
Everyone thought Ackerwoman would have so much money from tribes and public utilities and whatnot, that she was a sure thing. She got her ass kicked.
Galloway was (and still is) a silly joke but her stupid candidacy actually kept another Democrat who did live in the district – Art Brown – from making a fall run off.
They never seem to learn. And this time is no different, it seems.

Brandman has already announced he’s moving to get re-elected once districting elections happen inAnaheim. That’s why he approved 2016 for the districts he might have a shot in. You’re right. They would all carpetbag if they had to.

Sukhee Kang thinks money grows on trees since he can do anything he wants with Irvine taxpayers money which includes moving to Fullerton to run for State Senate. Sukhee thinks he is fiscally conservative when he is conservative with the money in his wallet but not the taxpayers. Big supporter of gun control and blames guns while defending radical Islam. As I mentioned in a previous post, Brett Murdock is another idiot who is from Brea which he got voted out last year due to his disastrous record in city council (http://www.breacleansweep.org/ and http://www.ocregister.com/articles/percent-640940-murdock-trailed.html) and now he wants to run for congress as a Democrat. By the way, Brett Murdock endorsed the carpetbagger for state senate.

For some reason it seems like many of the foreign born politicians now partaking in politics in this country have no idea of its real meaning.

Some don’t, that’s for sure. But a lot of carpetbaggers and ‘bagtresses are home grown – like Lorri Galloway and Mimi Walters. The foreign have a lot of company.
As I recall the State Constitution requires a one-year residence before running for office; however somebody somewhere, somehow has found this “unenforceable” – whatever that means. Most likely self-serving politicians. We will be doing a post about Sukee’s short tenure in Fullerton real soon.

I’ve got questions for our friend Kevin De Leon and the rest of his gaggle of girls (looking at you Quirk-Silver). My first question is for Quirk-Silver: When in doubt about your own campaign, shit on your constituents by welcoming with open arms a loser and carpetbagger from Irvine. Is that her strategy to win the 65th back? I’ve got news, she’s gonna lose.
Quirk-Silva is delusional if she thinks Democrats in this area will support her after this one.

I’m a Democrat and I’m voting Green in the Assy race next year, if there’s a Green candidate. If not, I’m sitting it out. Quirk has sold us all out for far too long. Endorsing this idiot from Irvine is just another in a long line of derelictions.

Agreed, Ex-Hippy, I’m a Democrat, too. I find Quirk’s behavior unconscionable and self-serving. I voted for her in the last election but she has now lost my vote an indeed shown her true colors. She’ll do or say anything she needs to at our expense. This Kang gentleman is not good for Fullerton and the Sacramento movers and shakers as well as our own local party leaders had no business dumping him on us. The fact that Quirk-Silva sold us out and went along with these political shenanigans says a lot about her character.

According to the LA Times article, “Former (Irvine) Mayor Sukhee Kang, a Democrat, is now running for state Senate, and he does not come off well in the audit report. I think Democrats at the state level are working together to minimize the damage to his campaign.” Irvine council member Jeff Lalloway points out that the Democratic party of California is working to reduce the damage to Sukhee Kang’s campaign by directing fellow Democrats including Kevin De Leon to endorse this carpetbagger. http://www.latimes.com/tn-dpt-me-0830-great-park-audit-review-20150829-story.html

Suhkee’s debacle in Irvine will forever follow him where ever he goes. No amount of massaging the truth, which is that Suhkee completely failed to lead the great City of Irvine, will change that.
De Leon and the rest of the OC’s leaders (Sharon Quirk-Silva, Lou Correa, Jordan Brandman, Lori Galloway, Pam Keller, Bao Nguyen, Sharon Brown, Rose Espinoza, Jay Chen, Tom Daly, Connor Traut, Art Brown, and many more have failed us by purposely trying to mislead the public into thinking that Suhkee is the most competent candidate for the position of Senate. They have decided to check their morals in at the door in favor of pandering to Sacramento party leaders for political favor. They clearly have given precious little thought as to what would be best for constituents in our area.
This is not a Republican vs Democrats issue. It’s a ethics issue.
Suhkee has demonstrated a clear lack of experience. He has failed to prove that he is an effective leader in other parts of OC and Democratic party bosses (and even some Republicans) want us to forget about that fact and vote for Suhkee anyway. Disgusting.
Ling Ling Chang is not that much better, in my opinion. She just got elected to the Assembly last year. The GOP crooked their little finger at her and voila, they found themselves a asian candidate to run against Suhkee. Nevermind that she was just elected, by the people, in a whole other position to do a completely different job. The fact that she even agreed to this makes me question her integrity.
Don’t know much about Newman, aside from I hear that he is a veteran. Will have to do some more research on him before commenting. Trouble is, I never even heard of him until now. God only knows, what agenda he may have…

Fullerton Dem, I agree with you on the ethics issue affecting both the Democrat and Republican parties. Since I’m Chinese with a bit of Vietnamese ancestry and a Republican, I strongly take offence of the Asian strategy that both Democrats and Republicans are aiming for. Both parties are pandering the Asian vote since Asians are likely to vote a candidate on their own regardless of political affiliation. Just to let you know about Jay Chen and he is from Los Angeles county (Eastern Portion) not Orange County. The carpetbagger is aiming for the Korean vote which Koreans are a small portion of the 29th State Senate District while the Filipino, and Chinese/ Taiwanese communities are larger portion of the district. Republicans handpicked Ling Ling Chang because the former candidate who is Tim Shaw seemed to be weaker candidate facing Sukhee Kang. Compared to the carpetbagger, Ling Ling Chang is aimed for the Chinese and Taiwanese vote since Republicans have a declining 3 percent advantage in voter registration. For Josh Newman, I don’t know who he is and the issues he supports. Neither candidates are great anyways.

Carpetbagger, most of the Republican and Democrat party hierarchy seem to be in this business of politics for money. Very few have any principles at all. Both party’s are knee high in gaming the system for their own personal gain.
It’s my belief that most people don’t give much value to who gets elected so long as their TV works and there’s booze on the shelve. Our newest immigrants – whether they be Chinese, Korean, Mexicans, Arabs, Ethiopian, etc. are the only hope for America. I too am interested in knowing more about Josh Newman and his issues in the months ahead.

I am Asian of Vietnamese descent. I’ve been a Democrat all of my voting life. My kids attended Fullerton High School. One of them graduated from UCLA and the other two are a year apart and currently attend CSUF. I love living in Fullerton and I enjoy being a part of the Fullerton community. I couldn’t agree with you more. The fact that our leaders are hedging bets based on the color of our skin and our ethnicity has set us back years and years of progress. Anyone who lets these things slide, is just asking for trouble. Fullerton residents deserve more than this asinine attempt to lead us based on misguided principles.
Suhkee’s endorsement list is impressive but his leadership record, which is what we should be looking at very closely, is very off putting. The fact that he moved here specifically to be our hero and new leader is something I could do without given his leadership record in Irvine.
I’m disappointed in my party over this and I’m disappointed in the two Asian candidates in this race. I am currently learning more about Newman. So far, I like what I see. Thanks for directing me to his website. I’m glad that we have an alternative to Suhkee and Ling Ling to consider.

If the voters can defeat Sukhee Kang in the primary at June 2016, Josh Newman may face off Ling Ling Chang in the general election which can be competitive only if Josh Newman steps up his game next year. But if Josh Newman loses the primary which leaves Sukhee Kang facing Ling Ling Chang in the general, who are we going to choose? That’s the question. It doesn’t matter if you are a liberal, conservative, or a moderate, we just want to vote in a candidate that best represents the community. If you are not happy with your party due to the racist strategy they are trying, you can always re-register as No Party Preference if you are moderate on certain issues you believe. Not just the Asian strategy that both Democrats and Republicans are aiming, they also trying to aim for the Latino vote as well.
